I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

A lot of appliances and fixtures have isolating valves that you can turn off. For example, the toilet will have a tap below or beside the cistern. If you cannot locate a valve, or that doesn’t stop the leak, then turn off the mains water shutoff tap to stop all water to the house.

Once that is sorted, give our plumber a call, whatever the day or time is. We’ll be there shortly to resolve the problem.

While you are waiting for the plumber to arrive, clear away any significant items close to the leak, and clean up any water or place a container to catch the drips. If you have turned the mains water off, also switch off the hot water heating as well.
